‘n Gelukkige familie. ‘n Goeie Pa. ‘n Donker geheim.

"An incredibly powerful but gentle telling of a devastating story. An important piece of theatre."

Geluk Erika Marais, jy was betowerend."

"Powerfully directed and powerfully acted, with no over the top - the understated discipline of the work makes it a masterpiece, very compelling."

This is a theatre piece that should not be missed by theatre lovers. Erika Marais gives a stellar performance in this one person show that is based on a true story. A story that is as riveting as it is heartbreaking and at times upsetting. Paul du Toit's translation of the original English play is very accessible to an English speaking South African like me. My basic knowledge of conversational Afrikaans was all that was needed. The piece is beautifully lit and staged and handled with such care and love by both the actor and director. Child abuse is so rife in our world, we need to continue to talk about it, highlight it, acknowledge it. Thank you Drama Factory for presenting this.

A solo drama performance always very difficult to deliver, especially when doing three characters. Erika delivered this brilliantly and smoothly move between characters, providing each with a definite identity. Strong delivery and message. A must watch piece.

Erika's acting was brilliant, her character portrayal was absolutely brilliant. The subject matter was very difficult to deal with emotionally for both the audience and the actress who portrayed it. Not exactly an easy relaxing afternoon out for a Saturday. It was quite an exhausting okay to watch, very drainibg emotionally, thus it was good it was only an hour long. Its not what I would normally choose to watch, but the portrayal was excellent.

Erika was absolutely brilliant. The translation into Afrikaans was perfectly done - sensitive at times and harsh when needed. Die slottoneel was uitstaande. Dankie vir 'n genoeglike aand by 'n oulike venue. Tot volgende keer dan. Eben Viljoen - Hermanus

Being elderly and as my grandchildren would say, not to cool, it was a rather disturbing play.

As a retired psychologist I thought this rendition of a very emotionally debilitating situation, excellent. The use of the blanket to depict various situations was so good, I almost believed there was a baby wrapped in it. Much food for thought well portrayed by a gifted actress

This uncompromisingly uncomfortable and gritty piece of theatre should urgently be seen by more than just traditional theatre audiences. I feel Church groups, Youth Groups, Community Groups , School Parent/ Teacher Associations etc should see this as often, they are acutely aware of this scourge but prefer to go into denial and sweep it under the proverbial carpet for fear of societal victimisation and shaming. The victims (and their families) are often psychologically scarred for life and have to present fake smiles. A really good effort all round.

Powerful. Simple highly effective economic use of lighting and the one and only used prop, the blanket. Powerfully directed and powerfully acted, with no over the top - the understated discipline of the work makes it a masterpiece, very compelling . And awful horrible story, but the reality is this kind of abuse is happening all the time, so it's relevant. Blessings Patrick (Theatre Director)

Uitstekend!!
