PLEASE NOTE: The start time of this show has changed to 6.30pm due to loadshedding. Our apologies for any inconvenience.

Taking centre stage in “Dark Side to the Moon”, the tribute to Pink Floyd is multi-

instrumentalist, adult contemporary singer, songwriter, recording artist and producer,

Mel Botes, whose brilliance as a guitarist had no limits in “Crazy Diamond”, sweeping

music lovers off their feet. Based on the success of the Crazy Diamond show, which was

first launched in 2008, and on public demand – Mel Botes, who first hit the spotlight

with his rock opera, “David’s Confession”, successfully launched the second chapter in

his series of Pink Floyd Tribute shows at the Atterbury Theatre in October 2013 to a

SOLD OUT audience! Mel Botes has been performing his Pink Floyd Tribute shows for

many years with rave reviews and thousands of die-hard fans of one of the most

successful rock bands of all time were taken aback by the authentic sounds. Many

people will remember Mel for being nominated “Songwriter of the Year” for his song

“Katryn” in the television series, “Song vir Katryn”. He was also one of the 3 musicians to

perform at Nelson Mandela’s birthday ceremony at Ellispark, Johannesburg in 2005.

The full “Dark Side of the Moon” album will be covered in first half and most of the Pink

Floyd hit songs in the second half! Mel Botes’ genial talent defies description: it must be

experienced!

A show not to be missed!

World class sound, performance, musicians, entertainment and value for money. Having seen Pink Floyd live I cannot gush enough about how good Mel Botes and crew are in this show!

Sound levels far to High. Warnings needed re Audio Health risks. Emergency Escape routes, doors, signs may be existing, but not visible to me. Should chairs not be fixed to floor? High vertical wall of shutter boarding is a huge fire loading on the premises. Fire appliances and sprinklers? Please check out official requirements. Hope the actual situation proves me wrong in my less than ideal observations opportunity. Otherwise congratulations on your courage and enthusiasm regarding small live theatre. Great for the Helderberg! Music not my style but I came for my daughter's sake- a teenager in the seventies. She enjoyed it thoroughly, as did my friends. Alan Penfold. PS my comments are intended sincerely and to be helpful.

Impossible to get to that sense of desolation and desperation that infuses the Dark Side of the Moon Album. But this was a life performance and not a studio recording, and for a life performance it was pretty good!! Thanks Mel and your team!!

Individual musicians were excellent. Amazing lead guitar playing. Vocals sometimes drowned out by the instruments. Maybe not enough time to do sound check because of loadshedding?

Not the best Mel Botes 'Pink Floyd' show I've seen. Unpolished. However the young lady was great. Would love to see her doing Janis Joplin, Marianne Faithful, Amy Winehouse etc.

The artists were talented and Mel's guitar play as good as ever. Sound quality could have been better though (not sure if the venue acoustics are to blame?). You should also consider numbered seating to remove the stress on yourselves as well as groups of friends attending, who have to rush inside pre-show to grab seats or be split up.

Very talented and most of audience seemed to enjoy it thoroughly. However, the venue was far too small for such an act: it needed, at smallest, Oude Libertas Amphitheatre: that way their volume could have been adjusted: as it was, the volume was uniformly over-loud. They could even have played at Kirstenbosch.

Hi Sue, The loudest, most abrasive event I have ever had the misfortune to attend at the Drama Factory. The lead singer was almost unintelligible except for phrases about he and the audience were all mad - and a very odd comment on Jews but maybe by then I was suffering from hearing damage. As for the puerile child drummer who was trying to prove that drums could be played as a dominant solo instrument without skill but just gusto - nuf said. Vic Levin

Good show by some talented musicians, but I felt that perhaps just a little bit of a light show would have improved the "atmosphere" (after all PF were known for their amazing live visual effects) and, especially about a quarter way through, the sound levels were driving the system a bit into distortion. With respect to the band, I thought the audience did not help them much!
