After the success of the hit movie, “Rocketman”, Durbanville-based musician, Rainer Jadischke, has been paying tribute to the British singer, songwriter, composer, pianist, record producer, occasional actor and genius, Sir Elton John, one of the biggest music icons of the 20th Century, in his ELTON JOHN TRIBUTE show that will be performed at The Drama Factory on 13 and 14 May at 7:30 pm.
Rainer, a professional vocalist and musician with a background in classical piano, has been performing full-time in the music industry for the past 30 years. He has worked as a session musician with well-known S.A. artists such as Jesse Clegg, Kurt Darren, Bok van Blerk, Dozi, Mel Botes, the late Theuns Jordaan, Anton Botha and Nicholas Louw. Rainer is currently working as a freelance producer, session musician and performing his highly-acclaimed Elton John Tribute show.
Not only do they share the same birthday, but Rainer also looks and sounds like the famous, legendary star, Sir Elton John. Rainer has a well-documented history as a full-time performer and musical director with the Barnyard Theatre group, where he also discovered his niche as one of the best Elton John impersonators in South Africa.
Elton John fans can look forward to singing along to the UK icon’s timeless ballads, “Rocket Man”, “Like A Candle in the Wind” (one of the best-selling songs in history), “Nikita”, “Sad Songs (Say So Much)” and foot-stompin’ Rock ‘n Roll hits like “Crocodile Rock” “I’m Still Standing” and “Club at The End of The Street”, to mention but a few. Rainer will also be sneaking in a hit or two by Billy Joel, Eric Clapton and Bob Seger in his virtuosic celebration of the Pop maestro, Sir Elton John’s hits, in his must-see tribute show!
We were treated to brilliant performances by an exceptionally talented singer and pianist. He did not try to emulate Elton but gave his own original version of these iconic songs. I rate him a 5 but the fifth star would only show a half. Typical techno!!! Thank you for your music.

While there is no disputing the talent of the performer, I think that calling him an impersonator was misleading. Apart from wearing a sparkly jacket he did nothing close to impersonating EJ. It would have been great had he either played more popular songs, or 'educated' the audience more about EJ/music etc if impersonation isn't his thing. A wee bit disappointing actually.
Yes we enjoyed it very much.
5 a trip down memory lane.
I was utterly impressed with this show. The songs chosen were fantastic and the performer was brilliant. I went to the show with no idea how it would be and I was blown away. I am an Elton John fan and I enjoyed the memories it evoked. The performer was really charming too, engaging with the audience making the show a little more exciting than just sitting quietly in the theatre, which resonated with me. The theatre has a lovely ambience and look. Overall, looking forward to more of these! 5!!
for the performer - Really fantastic, a privilege to have attended a performance by this gifted man. We liked his enormous talent on both keyboard and vocals, his modesty and gentle humour and his sharing in-depth knowledge of music and Elton John. For a next performance we would like to hear some of the slower, quieter numbers like 'Sacrifice' and, of course, the Princess Di lyrics. for the venue - PLEASE break performances like this with an interval, there were all sorts of oldies sqirming in their seats after drinking much wine ! The performer seemed be inexhaustable but the audience were taking strain ! Perhaps he could have taken his water from a carafe rather than a plastic bottle.
Excellent show, really enjoyed this classy performance!
He is an excellent piano player!
Very entertaining really. Good voice!
Very entertaining really. Good voice!
Rainer's love of Music especially for Elton John spilled over into the audience which responded by singing, clapping and tapping their feet and shouting for more. Incredible non-stop singing for ! hour 30m. We all loved the show. We have been coming on and off for the past two years, we have never been dissapointed.
Same guy doing Billy Joel
Really outstanding! We enjoyed every moment, thank you!!

We enjoyed it thoroughly. The artist was very good and his interaction with the public was on point. I will definitely support him when he performs again at Drama Factory.

Excellent show. Wonderful performance loved it.
So talented
It was fabulous.
We loved it!
It lifted my spirits as I've had a stressful few weeks. His piano playing was mind-blowingly good and his rapport with the audience was super. His voice was virtually identical to Elton John's. Two little niggles. Why did the controller people, keep showing the Acer logo on the screen with all the arrows and controls? I wish he had encouraged us to get up and dance about for a couple of the livelier numbers. Good way to get a standing ovation at the end if everyone is already on their feet!
Absolutely brilliant. We loved it. Has he got any CD’s?
Distracted by the computer screen projected on the back screen during the show. Loved the photos projected at the beginning of the show. Throughly enjoyed the evening.
Great entertainment
