MAD ABOUT THE BOYS - an ode to the lives of 20th century entertainment giants Ivor Novello, Noël Coward and Cole Porter. Think of a certain suave, urban style that reigned in theatre and the movies during the ’20s and ’30s. Think of cigarettes, smoking jackets and cocktails. Think of cynical epigrams, and sexy, witty, world-weary songs. Think of Cole Porter, Noël Coward and Ivor Novello – they virtually invented this style.
Starring Daniel Anderson, accompanied by Germainne Gamiet, this witty cabaret entails a series of vignettes round each of the Boys and, of course, the songs that made them immortal.
“It is the perfect mix of musical performance and storytelling, and Anderson glides seamlessly between the two modes of entertainment.” Madeleine Chaput - Daily Dispatch16 Jul 2021
MAD ABOUT THE BOYS features young and upcoming cabaret artist Daniel Anderson accompanied by Germaine Gamiet, and entails a series of little vignettes around each of the boys and - of course - the songs that made them immortal.
Daniel was brilliant. What a delightful show which brought back memories for the golden oldies. It would be a pleasure to come to see and hear him again.
Just simply stunning. Mind-blowing. What an incredible performance in every respect - music, choreography, story...!!
Excellent show!!
Very professional...excellent singing and diction....it was a show which had the magic...didn't want it to end! Very well written and directed too. A wonderful show. Thank you.
Delightful! Highly recommended! Daniel was energetic, great voice and slipped between characters effortlessly. Germaine provided the perfect steady piano accompaniment. Thank you!
We enjoyed it very much ! The omly complaint ,it was too cold
A talented young performer putting up a very enthused one man show of three of the legends of music and theatre of the golden era. A valiant performance. Unfortunately the skinny leg trouser ensemble was too stark a reminder of hipster 2020’s and not Porter Novello 1920’s and 30’s. The temperature in the theatre was extremely uncomfortable due to no Aircon being switched on and the smoke machine going throughout the show made one feel as if one were at a boerewors curtain braai. Sadly it completely detracted from the enjoyment of the show.
A very talented young man. SA audiences are very bad at not applauding at the start of a show when the pianist & singer first appear so the beginning did seem a little slow but he took it in his stride and the audience warmed to his obvious talent.
Thoroughly enjoyed the show. He is extremely talented and a joy to watch his cabaret. Please bring more shows like this.
Great pianist in Germaine; super choice of songs (some unexpected, which is lovely, although Cole Porter was a bit short-changed, I felt); appropriate set, mood, etc. Daniel was superb in his varied characterisation of the three men - one could clearly hear and see the difference among them; excellent diction, pitch, delivery - fabulous! One small point which annoyed both of us is that Daniel's costume didn't hit the mark for the period (trousers too skinny and tight) and his jacket look about two sizes too small - hence, the elegance was dimmed a little. For me, the final number was OTT, which edged it into bathos after a truly faultless performance - Mrs Worthington and Mad Dogs were fabulously well done. The make up and hair evoked the era nicely. A truly excellent show.
Yes, have them back regularly
An absolutely outstanding and memorable performance. Both Anderson and Gemiet are to be paid the highest of compliments on their amazing talents and professionalism! I would attend such a show again in a nano heartbeat.

Very entertaining.
More people in the audience would be better.
Sad it was not better attended. Only 10 in the audience must be disappointing. World class performances by both star and pianist deserve more.
Loved the show and Daniel and Germaine were excellent. Can you please put me onto your mailing list , advising of future events. Thanks
Delivered with passion and professional expertise I loved every second
Very brave to sing songs that are so well known and to pull it off almost faultlessly. Good characterisation. Pianist excellent. Enjoyed the evening. Sad that the audience was so small.
