Introduction to The Drama Factory Ethos

Making theatre should be a dependable way to make a living and a joy in itself; to that end, The Drama Factory considers itself a partner in making this difficult pursuit a little easier.

We are here for people to take artistic risks, cater to niche tastes and for those who make shows that appeal to the mainstream. It is a balancing act where the reward is a satisfied audience. To ensure the wide variety of work attracts the right audience, we look after our relationship with our community: We build trust and personal connection, don’t believe in one-size-fits-all theatre and will never hype a show universally. It is the theatre where the right audience comes for the right show for them.

We host drama, comedy, anti-theatre, stand-up, cabaret, burlesque, talks, workshops, live music, readings and poetry. All shows at The Drama Factory are subject to a vetting process, so if you’re working on a piece or have one that’s good to go, tell us about it in a proposal. Email us at info@thedramafactory.co.za
